Steven Colbert
Music is a dagger, music is a muse Music wakes you up and makes you care about the news It drives many crazy Living off dollar meals and Wal-Mart clothes Others use it for persuasion To say new things that people need to know And glory be the moment When all is said, and whats said is true Then you know you own it And it belongs to you
Steven Colbert's mother is a poet. She taught him about life and what you should do to be happy. She taught him words and verses. From a very young age, he would sit down on keyboards and bang on keys, thinking it was something special. Poetry was also something he dove into from a very young age. The pen became the sword though when he decided he wanted to be a visual artist, expressing himself through art with actions. This all changed in middle school when Steven first heard Nirvana.
Ever since then the young songwriter has had his guitar with him most all of the time. Instead of doing homework he would write songs, or listen to new things. Hip hop became a huge part of his life, as the rhythms and pure raw power of the words inspired him to start writing poetry again. Words came easy, they looked and sounded true. He quickly developed into a very unique and powerful guitarist as well, melding the rhythms of hip hop and the melodies of folk.
After not finishing high school, Steven spent his time working at restaurants and mastering his craft.
Now, still very early in his career, Colbert has already worked with and played shows with many notable figures from St. Louis and around the country. Having heard of a label quickly picking up steam, he contacted producer and artist Jonathan Toth from Hoth, and began working on his debut album, Go To Town Talkin About What I Learned Today. It is a mixture of folk rap and pure rock, with catchy hooks and powerful lyrics that fit perfectly with other Frozen Food albums, whether they are the hip-hop of J-Toth, or the anti-folk of Rob Getzschman.
The music lifestyle is like working a lunch rush. It can be really overwhelming, but you have to stick with it, and eventually, everyone gets their food.
